Classes

I'm currently in the process of scheduling classes for the spring, summer and fall. Classes from March to July will be held in Virginia, and then in Maine from July to November.

If you know a group of interested individuals who would like to take a group class, feel free to reach out. If you're within a few hours of travel, i'm happy to come to you to make a class happen!

Thanks,
Zach Chrisinger

October 14th and 15th: Bowl Turning Workshop
Location: The Carpenter's Boatshop- Pemaquid, Maine
Class Description: The use of a foot-powered pole lathe dates back to the 13th Century. While it as become a nearly forgotten practice, there has been a resurgance of this style of wood turning in recent years. During this course we will investigate the use of a pole lathe to axe out and turn a wooden eating bowl, turning techniques, bowl design, and wood drying/finishing. Each participant can expect to turn two or more bowls of their own over the course of the weekend. All tools and materials will be provided by the instructor.

Pole lathe turning is a physical process, that requires a fair bit of stamina and coordination. However this class is open to all skill levels. Participants ideally should be 16 or older.
Time: 10am-4:30pm both days
Cost: $250
